HP participates in the legislative processes through our public policy activities to support laws and regulations that promote cost-effective end-of-life programs globally. HP engages with a number of governments in the discussions to ensure that the resulting policies achieve environmental goals in an economically efficient manner. HP supports harmonization of environmental requirements and supports regional or national approaches, as opposed to varying state requirements. In Australia, Hewlett-Packard is an active partner in developing the national electronic waste recycling scheme in co-operation with industry peers and the Australian Information Industries Association.
